I bought the Kamander a few months ago and waited for a few cooks before i posted a review. The 1st day we got it delivered, it came on a big truck and was in a massive box. We already realized that we need 2 people to try working on it. We managed to open the box and the 1st thing we went for was the instruction manual. To our disappointment it was missing. signs of someone may have opened the box and not replaced the item. I immediately called the distributor and explained the issue. This was firstly to make sure that they are aware of the problem and i was not at fault if something goes wrong and is deemed missing when not available. secondly , we needed the instructions to start on the project. we managed to start the work by using a soft copy of the instructions emailed to us. it took us about an hour to assemble the bbq. Once done we went ahead and started seasoning the bbq as per instructions. I put in some old coal along with new so that i could get some smoke and if the bbq leaked i could know. in about 15 minutes the bbq started leaking smoke like a sieve. there was smoke from the hinges, the handle, where the logo was and from the bottom of the top vent. To give the benefit of doubt, the old coal did discharge a lot of smoke. during the time i noticed the latch in the front was of no use as it was the loosest latch i would have ever seen. it was dangling loosely and not helping in sealing the two lids in any way. I saw in a few videos that the latches were a little tight. but not sure why it was like this on my Kamander. Although this did not affect the temperature. I started my 1st smoke on a few days later. With briquettes and macadamia wood chunks. I decided to smoke some chicken. i used 2 probes, one in the chicken, one in the pit itself for internal temp. to my delight the pit temp on the probe and in the thermometer provided were almost similar. i used the two vents provided to control the airflow and so controlled the temperature and was surprised that the temperature would remain stable for long periods and also the slightest change would affect the temperature. i had to fiddle with the vents a little to get the right temp but this was not difficult as i did not need to bend. the end result was a beautiful. chicken with the correct temperature. Since then i have baked pizzas, done veges, chicken, etc on the kamander and have not been disappointed. the trick is to know what temperature would cook what and then plan your cook. the Kamander is easy to move also, by using the back handle, cleaning is easy, temperature is maintained easily. the sticker on the table is annoying but rubbing alcohol gets it off or else use a hair dryer. over all i am happy with the investment and hope it last me a long time.
