How to Grill Salmon

Salmon is a great fish to experiment with on the grill. It carries a versatile flavour that pairs with many different profiles and sides. Here are some tips to help you grill the perfect salmon every time.

Steps to Grilling the Perfect Salmon

  1. Buy the Best.
Choosing fresh salmon is key for the great taste. When visiting your local fish market or grocery store, look for cleanly cut fillets or steaks that are moist and don’t smell fishy. Cook them within two days for best results.
  2. Get It Ready.
Check for any bones. If found, pull them out with a pair of tweezers. Dry the fish with paper towels and then season. Leaving the skin on a fillet will keep it from breaking apart.
  3. Start grilling.
Make sure that your grill grates are clean. Preheat your grill to high heat. Cook with the skinless side down. When it begins to brown, flip carefully with a spatula. Look for a minimum internal temperature of 145°F.

Add a sauce, marinade or glaze for extra flavour. Your salmon should be moist and flaky when finished.
